The competition intended to see exciting businesses which are capable of creating jobs in rural areas that would lead directly to economic growth and maximizing community impact.
Most startups are taking the form of a social enterprise, where their businesses are built around a social mission. But it is not only about social impact as it can also contribute significantly to the economy. However, they often struggle to access traditional finance.
We organised our very first Pitch Competition that was held from 4-5 November 2019 gathered 10 group participants from Kiulu, Kiau, Kudat and Bongol to pitch their ideas! Following up the contribution received from Inti Raymi Fund, we allocated some amount to invest in community projects. On the first day, participants got the chance to learn the fundamentals of innovation and presentation skills delivered by Mind Vistas and the day after, we watched the burning passion and energy put into creating new ideas and ways to diversify their existing business plans. It was definitely nerve-wracking especially having to present and convince the line up of esteemed judges!
