THE SUKAU DUCK RACE
Sukau Rainforest Lodge and BEST Society invite guests at the lodge and interested individuals anywhere in the world to take part in the Sukau Duck Race event, which aims to raise funds to support the conservation efforts under BEST Society's Borneo Land Conservancy (BLC) initiative.
What is Borneo Land Conservancy (BLC)?
BLC initiative focuses on the conservation of a significant parcel of land measuring 7.7 acres in Sukau. Under BLC is the newly established Sukau Ecotourism Research Centre (SERC), which aims to facilitate research on responsible and sustainable practices in businesses and the communities around Kinabatangan.
Why Does this Initiative Matter?
Kinabatangan as we all know is renowned for its diverse wildlife such as Pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, orangutans and birds but their "homes" are threatened by deforestation and the palm oil plantation endemic.
Where is BLC & SERC Located?
Both are located just three minutes upriver by boat from Sukau Rainforest Lodge
How We Did It?
BEST Society acquired the piece of land measuring 7.7 acres for the price of RM 220,000.00. Therefore, we hope that you can be part of this conservation journey by taking part in this Sukau Duck Race as part of our fundraising effort to raise money for BLC.
