On 15th February 2024, a little ceremony and lunch get-together was held at the Borneo Eco Tours’ KK office to celebrate the heart and spirit of talented local artists Christianne Goonting and Flora Fung. Present during the event were also the wonderful representatives from the Sabah Cheshire Home, Mr. Harry Cham, Jennifer Liew and Susie. Hosted by BEST Society, the non-profit arm of Borneo Eco Tours, this event was a testament to the power of art to inspire, unite, and uplift.

It all started in December 2022, where a meaningful collaboration blossomed between BEST Society and Wild Borneo Boutique with artists Flora Fung and Christianne Goonting, two esteemed artists whose creativity knows no bounds. At the heart of this collaboration, a beautiful initiative aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of others was at work.

Through this collaboration, both artists have agreed to supply painted rocks, which are purchased by Wild Borneo Boutique, and with every Borneo Rock purchased, a portion of the proceeds is dedicated to raising funds for the Cheshire Home, an organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. This innovative approach not only celebrates the beauty of art but also serves a greater purpose by contributing to a noble cause.

As of January 2024, a total of RM7,694.30 has been donated to the Sabah Cheshire Home through the collaborative efforts of BEST Society, Wild Borneo Boutique and of course, the celebrated artists Flora and Christianne. This significant contribution represents 50% of the gross income generated from the sales of Borneo Rocks, a testament to the impact that art can have on supporting important causes in the community.

Now dubbed as Rock Stars, Flora Fung and Christianne Goonting’s exquisite rock paintings serve as more than just decorative pieces—they embody a fusion of creativity, passion, and compassion. Each stroke of the brush, each vibrant hue, tells a story and carries with it the hope of making a difference in someone’s life.

BEST Society and Wild Borneo Boutique are not only showcasing the talent of local artists but also channelling the power of art to create positive change in the community. By supporting this initiative, patrons not only enrich their own lives with beautiful artwork but also play a crucial role in supporting the mission of the Sabah Cheshire Home.
