This is done through the researches that it facilitates, which in turn will positively impact the communities, businesses and the environment there.

The Need

Sukau Ecotourism Research Centre (SERC) is established with the aim to advocate and promote responsible and sustainable practices in businesses and the communities around Kinabatangan. This is done through the researches that it facilitates, which in turn will positively impact the communities, businesses and the environment there.

Our Involvement

SERC was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, YB Datuk Christina Liew on the 28th June 2019. The centre provides avenue for ecotourism research with 3 twin-sharing bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets, workstation, kitchen, laundry and common area.

The Impact

The centre will accommodate further research space to study on the role of conservation and sustainable tourism in conserving biodiversity and the development of sustainable livelihoods.

Partnership
To form strong collaborations with experts, higher learning institutions, government bodies, corporate companies and communities in conducting meaningful researches that create positive impact.

Environment
To study the impacts related to conservation and seeking solutions on how the environment, local businesses and communities can co-exist and benefit from each other.

Education
To use knowledge by raising awareness and educating society in bridging the gap to better understand biodiversity.
