Her company, Kalahari Management Inc., provides assistance in assessments, strategic planning, feasibility studies and capacity building for the tourism industry. Carol’s past and current commitments in conservation and community work include assisting communities, business owners, and non-profit organizations in building sustainable tourism industries. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of her books are donated to various conservation and wildlife rescue organizations.

Professor Amran Hamzah

He is notable for his role in championing Community Based Tourism (CBT) since the 1980s. As the former Head of the Tourism Planning Research Group (TPRG), he has led numerous studies commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism, APEC, British Council, ECER, IRDA and other government agencies related to CBT. Currently, TPRG is collaborating with the Malaysian Ecotourism Association (MEA) in carrying out capacity building programmes to scale up community based rural tourism projects in Tanjung Piai, Taman Negara and Gopeng.

These pilot projects will then be used as models to showcase success stories in CBT. More info..

Since graduation, he has been actively training and developing students and church leaders with various organizations both in West and East Malaysia. Originally from Johore, he has been in Sabah for 21 years and in that time he has been actively involved in various social - concern projects such as Love in Action, Prison Ministry and Keningau Flood Relief. He was appointed a member of the Board of Visiting Justice by the State Government for 6 terms. In 1999, Mr. Lam helped in setting up a hostel for poor students in Pitas called Asrama Harapan Baru. The hostel provides reasonable accommodation for poor students as well as seeking to upgrade the educational capacity and instilling moral and spiritual depth to the students. More info..

Sarala Aikanathan worked at RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) until October 2010, prior to that she was the Director at Wetlands International, Malaysia Office for Wetlands International. Wetlands International is a non-profit organization whose mission is to sustain and restore wetlands, their resources and biodiversity for future generations.

She is also a reef bio-technologist, involved in reef restoration & propagation efforts in the waters of South-east Asia, and is a doctorate candidate of Universiti Malaya, in Kuala Lumpur. She has about 23 years experience in the field of environmental conservation and has extensive experience in design and management of environmental projects in Malaysia, South East and East Asia, North Africa. She graduated with a Masters from the University of New Castle upon Tyne, England, and is a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Economy and Administration, University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur

Maj B.Shuras Bathumalai graduated from Royal Military College as 2nd Leftenant in Royal Ranger Regiment of the Malaysian Armed Forces. Throughout his career for 27 years in the Army he served in various military organizations in the Royal Ranger Regiment and also in the Army's HQ in various states in Malaysia. When he was in the Malaysian Armed Forces during the communist era, he involved in many operations including the search and combat of the Communist armies. This provided him a great experience of handling people in difficult and critical times which needs a high level of crisis and risk management capabilities as well as keeping them focused on the task ahead.
